Dow appoint new strategic marketing director

Dow Performance Materials, a business of The Dow Chemical Company, have named Carlos Silva Lopes as strategic marketing director for the business, which includes the specialty companies ANGUS Chemical Company and Acima Specialty Chemicals. This includes the company’s range of leather chemicals under the ANGUS name.


In this role, Silva Lopes will lead all global marketing activities for a number of diverse markets – from personal care and paints and coatings to catalysts, metalworking fluids and life sciences.

I’m confident he will lead his team to ensure our portfolio remains competitive and meets customer needs – now and in the future,’ said John Buckley, general manager, Dow Performance Materials and president of ANGUS Chemical Company.
Silva Lopes joined Dow in 1990 in building product sales in Dow Portugal. In 1995, he transferred to Johannesburg, South Africa, as market development manager for Dow Fabricated Products. Most recently, Silva Lopes served as the global marketing director for Dow Fabric & Surface Care, a business unit of Dow Home & Personal Care.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from ISEL in Lisbon, Portugal. He completed the Advanced Industrial Marketing Strategies course at INSEAD, France, and received his MBA from IMD in Switzerland.
