Brenntag join forces with Genencor

1 March 2002

Brenntag, the subsidiary of Germany-based Stinnes, have signed a European distribution agreement with biotechnology company Genencor. The deal, for an undisclosed sum, will see Brenntag become the exclusive distributor across Europe for Genencor's enzyme products. Genencor have relied on individual distributors in the past and believe that the agreement will allow them to increase their market penetration in eastern Europe and Scandinavia. Brenntag Specialities, who are based in Loosdrecht, the Netherlands, will be in charge of the distribution of Genencor's products. Klaus Engel, chairman of the board of Brenntag, said: 'This will further strengthen our position in the leather, baking, paper and water treatment, and brewing markets.'
