Braspelco Frizzo plant opens

One of the nation's largest producers of leather, the Braspelco Group, have inaugurated a new footwear factory in the south of the country. Located in Nova Esperança do Sul in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Braspelco Frizzo Calçados will operate alongside the Frizzo Couros tannery. Inauguration of the plant took place on August 18 and was attended by the governor of the state, Olivio Dutra. The inauguration was a double celebration for the company as they officially received their ISO 9001 certification during the ceremony. In 2001 Frizzo Calçados are predicting a turnover of US$8.7 million, up from US$7.5 million in 2000. The Braspelco group now have 14 separate leather and footwear facilities located throughout Brazil. The company were established in 1996 in the town of Uberlândia, Minas Gerais.
