BASF launch multi-article finishing product

22 November 2011

BASF have launched a new finishing product – Astacin Finish PS, for achieving outstanding water spot resistance and high print retention for elegant leather. Astacin Finish PS delivers high performance levels.

It has low water absorption, excellent lightfastness and high flexibility in wet/dry state and low temperature. It is also resistant to hydrolysis and spotting by water droplets. Apart from all these enhanced performance benefits, there is also no heat yellowing effects.

As a result, Astacin Finish PS is especially recommended for finishing the following types of leather : finishes applied to box calf and similar leather that is required to be resistant to spotting by water droplets – bag leather and shoe upper leather. Adding to the list is also nappa leather with high fastness, such as shoe upper leather, bag leather, automotive leather and upholstery leather.

It has good filling power, excellent leveling and high coverage. It does not stick while plated, embossed or piled, thereby responding well to embossing. One of its many beauties is also that it imparts an elegant, fine mill break.

When it comes to environmental friendliness, Astacin Finish PS is very much in the forefront with the latest standards. Not only is it free of NMP (N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone), but also NEP (N-Ethyl-2-pyrrolidone). It also does not contain any plasticisers and is free of alkyl tin compounds.
