16 April 2012

The Officers of the IULTCS have announced the addition of the LFLPTA (Leather, Footwear and Leather Products Technologist Association) from Bangladesh to the International Union and welcome the President of the Association, Mohammad Aslam Mia, to the Executive Committee.

The Leather, Footwear and Leather Products Technologist Association (LFLPTA) was established in 2008. It is incorporated under the Ministry of Social Welfare and serves as the ‘voice of the technologist’ in Bangladesh. The association has approximately 150 active members and provides a first point of contact for the job market. The association compiles facts and recommendations on the industry for the leather technologist and business community, and facilitates research, trade and commerce. The association is run by a 15 member Executive Committee and an advisory committee that represents the different levels of membership.

The main objective of the LFLPTA is to help build professionalism through adoption of new technologies, focus on ecological production, support of occupational health and safety, and building of business and government relationships domestically and globally for the leather and footwear industries. The association is active in organising seminars and conferences, conducting training workshops, and assists with the organization of fairs and trade delegations. The LFLPTA publishes a magazine and newsletter for their members.
