APLF Seminars Point the Way to Better Business

19 March 2004

The resurgence of Hong Kong's economy is a hot topic right now, with many companies positioning themselves to take advantage of new developments. Hong Kong's special relationship with Mainland China, especially since the advent of the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA), has major significance for the international business community. Asia Pacific Leather Fair (APLF) has arranged two seminars to cover these economic topics, on March 30, 2004, in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Room 608). At 9:00am Ms Pansy Yau, assistant chief economist of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), will present 'Economic Integration of Greater Pearl River Delta, and CEPA Opportunities'. HKTDC is a statutory trade promotion body whose mission is to create and facilitate opportunities in international trade for Hong Kong-based companies, and to strengthen Hong Kong as the global trade platform of Asia. The seminar will address Hong Kong's role in the region; how it adds value to trade and investment activities in the Pearl River Delta; and how CEPA will further strengthen Hong Kong's advantages as a platform for the China market. Following on at 10:00am, another seminar will be presented, by Invest Hong Kong - the award-winning government department dedicated to attracting and retaining direct investment from around the world to Hong Kong. Charles Ng, head of trade-related services for Invest Hong Kong, will give a presentation on Hong Kong: the leading hub for sourcing, import/export trade, exhibition, distribution and retail. These presentations will be rich with detailed information of great value to professionals in the fashion and leather industries as well as their present and potential business partners. Exhibitors and visitors can register for the seminars at [http://www.aplf.com]. APLF, the largest and most international fashion and leather trade fair in the Asia Pacific region, is celebrating its 20 years of service to the industry in 2004. APLF 2004 Fashion Access - Handbags, Travelware, Footwear, Leather Garments and Fashion Accessories - will open at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on the same day, March 29, with Materials, Manufacturing and Technology. The event runs until April 1 and buyers will be able to meet with almost 3,000 exhibiting companies from over 60 countries and regions.
